Itinerary Short Inka Trail 2 days

Day 1: Cusco – Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu Aguas Calientes

Early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel for transferring you to the train station in Ollantaytambo (about 1 hour and 30 minutes), during the tour, you enjoy a panoramic view of the mysterious valley of the Inca, in the station of Ollantaytambo you will board the train that will take you to km 104 (1 hour trip). It is here at Km 104. Upon reaching the checkpoint, you’ll have to show identification documents. 15-minute walk is where there is the archaeological center and Choquesuysuy Chachabamba that are hidden in the semi-tropical forest, after 4 hours of walk, we’ll reach Wiñaywayna which shows a perfect example of what was farming at the time of the Incas, as along its slopes lie a large number of circular terraces, where the Incas cultivated different agricultural products. The name “Wiñaywayna” comes from a beautiful orchid that abounds in the area and whose meaning in Spanish “Young Forever ” and has more than 20 buildings, one of them the “Temple of the Iris Rainbow” also called Temple of Fertility, the visit will be 1 hour on average, then you will enjoy the lunchbox to refuel and continue until we reach Wiñaywayna control.

In this second part of the journey, we’re going to walk two hours through an andean road, stone staircases and drums (“resting places”) until the Inti Punku – “Puerta del Sol /Sungate” in time of the Incas, it worked as an access control point to the citadel of Machu Picchu; from here, you may have a amazing panoramic view of Machu Picchu and the mountains that surround it, then we’ll descend for about 30 minutes to the wonder of the world: Machu Picchu and finally we’ll take the bus to “Town of Aguas Calientes”, the trip takes 25 minutes, here we’re going to spend the night in a hotel. If you are not too tired, you can visit the hot springs that is 10 minutes from the village the cost is 10 soles.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

This day very early after a breakfast buffet at 05:30 a.m., you will get on the first bus with your tour guide to the citadel of Machu Picchu and be the first to arrive and be able to contemplate the majestic sunrise. Then, you will enjoy a private guided tour for more than 2 hours, visiting the main precincts of the Inca city such as the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Intiwatana, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, etc. Once the tour completed, you will be able to visit the citadel on your own, you can do the walk at the Sun Gate or the optional Inca Bridge (climb the Mountain of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain).

After completing your incredible experience, you can get off by bus to the village of “Aguas Calientes” and have lunch. In the afternoon you will board the return train to Ollantaytambo, where our transport will be waiting for you and take you to your hotel in Cusco. You will arrive to Cusco at approximately 08:30 p.m.
