Detailed itinerary
Day 01: 7 Lakes of Ausangate Tour + Pacchanta Hot Springs
The tour begins with pickup from your accommodation in Cusco and transfer by tourist transportation to the Andean community of Pacchanta, located at the base of the snow-capped Ausangate. During the journey, you will pass through agricultural valleys, high-altitude landscapes, and traditional villages such as Urcos, Ccatcca, and Tinki, where Andean rural life is still preserved.
Upon arrival in Pacchanta, the group is welcomed with a local breakfast, ideal for regaining energy and adapting to the altitude. Then, you will have time to prepare, organize your equipment, and listen to the guide’s instructions, who will provide recommendations about the hike, the route, and safety during the journey.
Next, the Seven Lakes circuit hike begins, a moderate-difficulty trail that takes place among high mountain landscapes, glaciers, and natural grasslands. Along the route, you will visit glacial lakes such as Patacocha, Orqo Otorongo, China Otorongo, Pucacocha, Azulcocha, Comercocha, and Alqacocha, each with unique characteristics and colors formed by the minerals in the water. It is common to see alpacas, llamas, and Andean birds, as well as streams descending from the glaciers.
After completing the circuit, you will return on foot to Pacchanta, where the group may choose to enter the hot springs to relax the muscles and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Afterwards, an Andean lunch prepared by local families will be served, featuring regional products and offering a simple and authentic gastronomic experience.
Finally, the return journey to Cusco by tourist transportation begins, arriving at your hotel in the afternoon and concluding a day of nature, hiking, and connection with high-Andean culture.
