Itinerary Tour Machu Picchu & Humantay Lake 5 days
Day 1: Arrival in Cusco and City Tour
Upon your arrival at the Cusco airport, our staff will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel, where you can enjoy a coca tea, ideal for acclimatizing to the altitude and relaxing for a moment. Later, we will begin the City Tour in Cusco, visiting the Temple of the Sun or Coricancha and then the four nearby archaeological sites: the Fortress of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay, known as the Inca Baths. At the end of the tour, we will return to the hotel for rest.
Day 2: Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas – Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up to begin the journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be the town of Pisac, where we will visit the traditional handicraft market and then the archaeological site, known for its impressive agricultural terraces. We will continue to Urubamba, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch. Afterwards, we will head to the Ollantaytambo Fortress, an important living Inca town and one of the last strongholds of resistance during the Spanish conquest. At the end of the visit, we will go to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes, according to your scheduled ticket. Upon arrival, we will accompany you to your selected hotel in Machu Picchu Town. In the evening, you will receive an informative briefing with your guide about the visit to Machu Picchu for the following day.
Day 3: Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, we will walk to the bus station in Aguas Calientes, arriving approximately thirty minutes in advance to board the bus that will take us to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The bus ride takes about twenty-five minutes along a scenic mountain road overlooking the valley.
Upon arrival, we will begin the guided tour of Machu Picchu according to the circuit assigned on your entrance ticket. Together with your guide, you will visit the most important sectors of the sanctuary, learning about its history, spiritual significance, and Inca architecture. You will also have time to take the classic panoramic photos from the main viewpoints. The guided tour lasts approximately two to three hours. Afterward, you will have additional time to continue enjoying the site according to the regulations of the circuit on your ticket.
We will then take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time for lunch on your own and to explore the town if you wish. Later, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo according to your scheduled ticket. Upon arrival, our transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 4: Humantay Lake Excursion
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to begin the drive toward the town of Mollepata, located northwest of Cusco. There we will enjoy breakfast to recharge energy, and then continue by vehicle to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike, located at approximately 3,900 meters above sea level. After a short rest, we will begin the ascent toward Humantay Lake, situated at around 4,180 meters above sea level. Along the way, you will enjoy stunning Andean landscapes. Upon reaching the lake, you will have time to appreciate its turquoise waters, admire the imposing Salkantay snow-capped mountain, listen to the guide’s explanation, and take memorable photographs. We will then hike back to Soraypampa, where lunch will be served. At the end of the excursion, we will return by transport to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
